Hardware performance determines optimal user experiences, and server system requirements vary widely based on business size:
Consult your system administrator and our consultants if you are considering an upgrade or purchase of new hardware.
Operating system requirements
Workstation:
- Microsoft Windows 11
- Microsoft Windows 10 (recommended)
- Including the latest updates
Server:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2022
- Microsoft Windows Server 2019
- Microsoft Windows Server 2016
- Including the latest updates
Setting up a desktop PC (workstation) as a server is strongly discouraged.
Workstation hardware requirements
The following requirements are what is minimally required, for the average usage of our software a modern mid-range desktop is recommended. Consult your system administrator.

System requirements license server
Licensing is covered by Matrix Software by means of so-called "Softlock Standalone (SSA)" and "Softlock Multi-User (SMU)" protection. SSA-licenses are typically used when operating standalone on a single workstation. In a server environment with multiple workstations, license server software is usually installed on the central server (the Sentinel RMS License Manager), which requires an SMU-license. Both require a connection to Matrix Software's servers upon activation. The license software retrieves hardware/system information locally.
The following system information (hardware) is checked: HardDisk ID, Host Name, MAC Address, it may cause problems if this system information is subject to change.
Incoming connections via port 5094 is required to activate a new authorization code.

General
- This page does not apply to custom software and outdated (legacy) applications unless specified.
- Matrix Software applications, with the exception of MatrixWindows Web, are developed as desktop applications. Matrix Software cannot guarantee that applications will run on remote desktop servers, Citrix servers, cloud servers, or other non-desktop systems. However, many customers successfully use Matrix applications in such environments. Matrix Software provides support services, but limited to its own discretion.
